Amilia would watch him idly, seeing this behavior, but she didn't do anything about it. She knew if she even got close he would just glare at her and complain.
She'd huff and glance over, finding it odd he didn't finish his food. Still. She did find herself curious as to what he was doing.

snowflakes falling cut by a streak of green flakes all a flurry to the forgotten depths...
The vision passed, causing Leifiel to snap out of his trance and take a sharp intake of breath. The gold light coming from within his eyes faded and returned to their familiar red tint. His hand still held the crystal ball, although his hand was shaking that it could roll out of his grasp.
What was that?! It'd been a while since he'd seen something that detailed! Leifiel blinked his eyes, massaging them with his free hand. The others sharing the table seemed to have noticed that he didn't look quite all right. However, if they had any intention of asking him about his well-being, it was cut off when the little redhead tilted his head towards them. Thinking that it would earn them a series of cold remarks, the other students thought it wasn't worth it and even shuffled away from him.
Leifiel stared at them and the other onlookers (who then promptly returned to mind their own business) before looking at the crystal ball again.
He'd seen more than enough today, he thought as he shoved the ball back into his bag (causing Mr. Pink to beep) and then turned his attention to his leftover food.

Leifiel's sudden burst of confused movement concerned Amilia, and she watched from her seat in worry, though when he set back on his food, everything seemed to be okay. Still...
She'd say something to her invisible companion, and a few seconds later, Liefiel would feel the presence of...something, though no one was present.

Even though he'd decided to stop practicing for the next class, Leifiel couldn't help but think about the vision he'd just seen. Lost in his thoughts, he ended up poking at his bowl of mashed potatoes. The darkness that dominated the vision was a little unsettling; what could it mean?
Suddenly, the little redhead felt a sudden chill, and it wasn't associated with the cold. That would be impossible, what with the cafeteria's heating and all. No, it was a certain kind of chill, and Leifiel was familiar with it. Something unseen was about and it was lurking near him.
He turned to look behind him but saw no one standing behind him...However, he was certain he could be staring at someone else.

After a few minutes the presence would depart, and if Lief bothered to look at her, he'd notice Amilia's eyes tracking unseen movement from his table back to hears, and after a few seconds of looking directly in front of her, she would 'talk' and then nod, glancing back to Liefiel with a slightly concerned expression.

It would've made a strange sight to the people in the cafeteria: Leifiel staring intently at the empty space for a considerable amount of time. Some people were already finishing their food or just flat out leaving leftovers, just so they could get out of the place as soon as possible.
Of course, Leifiel could care less. Instead, his eyes moved when the strange presence shifted to the side. It was hard to keep track of the presence, but he could still follow it albeit vaguely...towards the direction of Amilia's table.
...Aha. Whatever theories he might have had about the woman before, he was now certain they were wrong. Without much ado, Leifiel got up from his seat and walked over to Amilia's. "Who is that?" he asked, not even bothering with pleasantries.

Amilia was a little surprised to see Liefiel approaching her, instead of the other way around. It seems he finally figured it out, to some extent, on what was really going on around her.
She'd smile and sign her reply. <Marcus Jensen.> She replied the name of one of their ex-classmates, who had vanished under mysterious circumstances. Missing posters had been put up, but there had been no leads, and a good seven months had past.

Leifiel brushed aside the fact that he'd surprised Amilia. He was more concerned with having his question answered. He waited, staring at her with unwavering eyes until she answered.
That wasn't what he was expecting, which would be along the lines of 'a departed spirit'. That would've been fine, not an actual full name, and one he knew at that. Taken aback from the revelation, Leifiel was speechless.
When he'd recomposed himself a few moments later, Leifiel turned to look at where Marcus' presence was strongest and asked to either of them, "Is this true?" Of course, there's no way he'd know. It was a reflex.

Amilia noted Liefiel's reaction, but did not comment, instead looking to the empty spot near the table with a sad smile.
When she heard his question, she'd look back to Liefiel, then to the empty spot and would mouth something. If lief tried to lip read, he might get something along the lines of 'is it okay?'
She'd then return her attention to Lief. <He committed suicide about a week before anyone realized he was missing. Leaped from the bridge into the river.> She'd explain. <He's been wandering these halls ever since.>

Well, she certainly was talking to someone, even if that someone was intangible. At least she wasn't insane as he'd sometimes thought. Leifiel waited until Amilia told him Marcus' story.
He didn't look too pleased to hear about their ex-classmate's fate. In fact, he looked more disapproving than sad. Sure, he was sad that Marcus had died, but not as much as Amilia was. Crossing his arms, the little redhead asked, "Should I inquire as to why he did that?" Probably from the stress of schoolwork...That must be it, that he was certain. Taking the easy way out, it was a sign of weakness for him.

Amilia would look to the invisible figure for a moment and appear to be listening. After a few moments she'd look back to Liefiel. <He says he was suffering from depression for several years, and was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. Instead of letting himself waste away, he decided to end it himself. He says he regrets his decision though, and wishes he stuck around for as long as he could.>

Leifiel's scowl softened, but only for a bit. He at least had an idea how depression works, and it wasn't a very good thing. And then, there's the illness. It was almost a double misfortune dealt to their ex-classmate.
With a short huff, he said, "He may regret it as much as he wants, but what good would that do?" He turned to leave, but paused to add, "So long as he doesn't disrupt anything, he may do as he pleases. This has nothing to do with me."
With that, Leifiel returned to his seat and finished his food.

Amilia would frown gently and allow Liefiel to depart. She could tell even he cared, though he tried to hide it. She wished he was facing her, because she wanted to ask why he was the way he was. Alas, she could not, so she did not, and instead resumed her conversation with Marcus, casting glances to the faerie occasionally.

Even when his mashed potatoes had grown cold, it was still a treat. He could pretend it was a lukewarm mass of savoury cream. Satisfied, Leifiel gave his thanks for the meal, a custom that came from his father.
It was about time for the next class. The little redhead gathered his things and went to exit the cafeteria. He did take the courtesy to pass by Amilia's table and said, "Hurry if you do not want to be late." He didn't even wait for a reply and went on ahead.

Surprisingly, Liefiel was being slightly more friendly towards her. Instead of just heading straight to class, he stopped by her table to remind her to get a move on. She'd smile gently, say farewell to her invisible friend, and follow after Liefiel, jogging to catch up to him and walk alongside him as they made their way to their next class, Advanced divination.
