Of course, Quinn didn't seem to mind Sarina's skin color. He'd seen people from various areas before when he'd been a young tinkerer, before he'd gotten married to his childhood friend. Besides, to him, it only mattered whether someone returned his kind and generous nature. Maybe it was a naive attitude to have about the world, but Quinn couldn't help but have that attitude. After all, it hadn't steered him wrong yet.
He glanced up and nodded. "Yeah. Just a little too big for making a clockwork kitten. But it seems my son has a good idea for it already." Sure, Matthew just didn't have an inventor's bent like Quinn did, but that was okay. He knew his son's mind worked with little clockwork cogs of their own beat and he wouldn't discourage it.
He then shoved his hand down in a pile, plucking out many smaller cogs--some of which seemed a bit small. "Welp, I found a few of the right size--" Here, he plucked the larger, but not overly-large, cogs out of his hand, leaving the tiny ones behind. "Need these for anything, or should I let Matthew have 'em for customizing an article of clothing?"

Sarina looked at the cogs herself. She didn't know the whole specs of the clockwork cat so she didn't know the precise cogs. If she did she'd know, but right now she'd guess and try again.
"Well, here ya go, then~!" Sarina would give the piece to Matthew for now. It wasn't going to fit for her boots so right now she would just balance on the piles of scrap
"Hm?" She'd look over to check the cogs. "Oh I could use those to fix my boots."
