Nomine blinked as Mikhail stopped him, then lowered his arm. "Oh."
Then again this room didn't exactly look like any of the practice fields he's seen the past couple of months. Now a new guy had shown up and was getting in trouble for "eavesdropping", whatever that is.
And judging by that look Gram had given Dylan, Nomine just looked at Dylan and asked, "You're not liked by many people around here are you?"
He looked back at the scar faced "Commandant" as he described his test.
"Seems simple enough."
There wasn't any arrogance in his voice. A sword fight seems like a much better test than trying to memorize answers to questions and writing them down. He looked at his opponent, just silently examining him while they stood there. They can't fight in here, so there has to be some other room they can fight in. He was just waiting for someone to lead him to it.

"You're not liked by many people around here are you?"
Dylan was just about to answer that when Gram was nearly beside him in just a few quick strides. "Actually, kid..." Gram began as he tossed a rather sweet look at a disbelieving Dylan. "Neil here is such a sweetheart; we love him a lot!"
"In fact, I've asked him to marry me so many times already, but he keeps turning me down! Isn't he such a grump---" Gram then made to drape his arm over Dylan's shoulders. However, before he could even do so, Dylan had already pulled out one of his handguns and pointed the barrel at Gram's midsection. "Just try and get closer, Gram~." Dylan said with an obviously fake smile on his face. "See, kid?" Gram answered, completely unfazed by the gun to his torso. "He's such a charmer!" "That is enough." Mikhail said strongly, interrupting the rising squabble. His patience was growing thin as seconds went by; even if it wasn't shown in his face, it was obvious in his tone. Once Dylan and Gram behaved (as much as they could), Mikhail headed out of the office, saying, "Follow."
Mikhail brought them to a spacious area outside the militia headquarters, where sword training sessions were held. The Commandant walked on ahead to the spectator's area and said to Gram, "Your decision when to start the test, Baker." "Yes, Sir!" Gram turned on his heel and pushed his helmet's visor down to cover his face. "Don't try to hold back, kid." he said, pulling out his longsword from its scabbard with his left hand. "That would insult me a lot!" "...Feel free to insult him anyway!" Dylan piped in, shutting up when Mikhail threw a warning glare at him.
"All right, kid." Gram went to a ready stance. "Your move."

"I might be an amnesiac. I might be unaccustomed to most common society stuff. But I'm pretty sure I know who's the most sane person in this room," Nomine commented dryly at Gram and Dylan's squabble, just before the Commandant intervened.
As they walked out of the office and followed Mikhail through the base, Nomine looked at the Commandant and asked him, "So what should I call you?"
Now they were outside and in a training area. This was apparently going to be where they fought. Don't hold anything back? Nomine wasn't sure that would be a good idea, considering one of his techniques. He added a bit more distance between himself and where Dylan and the Commandant were observing.
Nomine crouched down and placed his right hand on the hilt of his sword, but didn't draw it just yet. He stayed still for a few moments, debating how to lead off. There was distance between them, enough that it was obvious he either had to do a run and draw technique if he was hoping to hit Gram with his blade, or, as Dylan is already previously aware of, use one of those wind magic shock waves from his sword.
Well, if he really is an experienced fighter, then his cutting shock wave shouldn't be too much of an issue right? Granted, if he wasn't expecting it or didn't see it coming, he might get severely injured, and that might get Nomine in big trouble.
Well, he said hold nothing back. If Gram's that sure of himself, then Nomine felt like he shouldn't have anything to worry about in the event he gets cut or injured.
"Alright. But it's your fault as much as mine if you get hurt," Nomine stated dully before drawing his blade and unleashing the cutting shock wave at Gram. In the event the shockwave keeps going on past Gram, some of the wooden dummies might be sliced in two by the attack.

"So what should I call you?"
Mikhail huffed a bit before answering Nomine's question, "That will be determined after your test, boy."
Meanwhile, Dylan was surprisingly quiet, especially after his earlier banter with Gram. His eyes were glued at the sparring field, intent on watching the next events unfold. Mostly Gram getting pwned.
Gram, on the other hand, was looking forward to see what Dylan's new recruit was capable of. He studied his opponent closely; pretty tall, pointy ears---non-Human, nice---and carrying a sword. His expression lit up with a burst of enthusiasm. This is going to be fun.
It was that telltale rush of wind; Gram had always loved the feeling of the wind whipping past his face. That's why he'd become a Pegasus Knight.
And then it happened.
With nimble footing, Gram dropped to the side, sliding along the ground as the shockwave passed by him. A row of straw practice dummies, however, was sliced in two. There was silence in the field. "A long-range fighter, eh?" Gram called out as he got back up to his feet. He lifted his left sword arm and swung it a few times. "I was expecting some more passion!" With that, he charged towards Nomine in a zigzag pattern aimed to confuse in order to cross blades with him.
