Benedict nodded when Julian spoke up. How nice of him! Why couldn't there be more people like him? He wasn't sure. Either way, he was just a lonely priest with no parents that he ever knew. The Lord was his father anyway. He looked down at Caden. What a depressing lifestyle for the kid, even if he seemed cheerful.
"No, child. Either one of us is happy to see to you. Besides..."He chuckled, trying to remain lighthearted. "Lila likes you."
He then looked over. It did make him wonder... who were his parents? The priest who took care of him said his mother left him at the church, but he never got details on who exactly she was.

Julian was unable to hide his surprise when Caden admitted to having such a morbid job. He was just a child!
"Child, never think that you would be imposing on me. If you feel that you must absolutely earn your keep when you're here, I'm sure I can always find some small tasks for you." Come on Caden, You can stay here! LET ME ADOPT YOU
He felt a little guilty, wanting to fawn over Caden this like, it felt as though he was trying to replace his little girl, which he wasn't. He wanted her back dearly, and he'd do anything, but...
Even if Lapis was still around, he'd have wanted to take in Caden, the poor boy. But...how was he going to say it? Well, first, he'd need to get Caden more used to him.
"I mean it, child. Never hesitate to come here. I adore the company." He smiled, then stood. "I think the stew is almost heated through, pardon me a moment while I check."
With that, he stepped into the kitchen and, using a hot pad, carefully lifted the lid and checked the contents, smiling as he saw that it was fit to eat. Taking the pot by the handles, he carefully carried it to the dining room and sat it on the wood plaque on the table. "Allow me to fill your bowls." He said, holding his hand out for Caden's.

Caden wasn't really bothered about the job, it was just something he did. As long as he didn't see the dead bodies, he would be fine. Besides, it meant that he had an income!
"O-Okay..." Caden fidgeted shyly from where he was sitting. Boy of few words. He still wasn't used to you, Julian, but he could tell that you were a really nice person. He giggled at the mention of Lila liking him. Lila~!
"I-I l-love L-Lila t-too!" That horse was such a nice animal. Julian told him that he could always come here whenever he wanted, and the boy smiled happily, though in disbelief that Julian would actually want to see him again. Then the other went to get the stew, and Caden politely handed him his bowl with a "Thank you!" once Julian gave him his stew.

Benedict didn't want to talk about that. Of course he was an orphan himself, so he wouldn't say anything about it. Benedict would listen to the both of them. Okay so Julian would help Caden, that was great! Benedict wouldn't know what to do with a kid like him. He felt more like a brother figure.
"And if you need some place to stay or want company, Lila and I will be very happy for you join me." He smiled at the kid. Benedict was grown up enough to serve his own meal, and as soon as the other two were served, he would take a modest amount for himself.
"Thank you."

Julian smiled warmly as the three of them talked, and smiled even more-so to Caden as the bot gave such a chipper thanks. Such a sweet child.
Being the host, Julian would absolutely insist on serving Benedict's bowl, and gave a decent amount. After hearing what that man was living off of, he wouldn't begrudge him a decent helping. Not like there wasn't plenty.
Once they all had their bowls, Julian would look to Benedict. "Would you mind saying grace, Father?" He asked.

"O-Okay~." The boy said, nodding to Benedict when the other mentioned he was more than happy to keep him in the church or provide the boy with company. Hm, maybe he could come here and there occasionally. It would probably be a good way to stay fed. He would have to help out with chores, of course, but it would be a good way.
Caden would try hard not to giggle as Benedict and Julian both tried to fill Benedict's bowl. Adults were really funny sometimes, but once the bowls were all filled, he bowed his head in preparation for the grace.

Well, Benedict had to give up on Julian. Well he was just a teenager still, and the man insisted he had a good amount. He was a bit amused at that and he took off his hat, hanging it neatly behind him as he turned around. Julian asked for a a grace and he nodded.
Taking their hands, Benedict would lower his head and then say grace, blessing God for the food they have been given, and to bless the family members that weren't around. he then lifted his head and looked at the two of them, saying amen.
RPer is le stupids when it comes to grace so yeah.

Saying amen himself, Julian opened his eyes and proceed to enjoy the stew that they had made together.
"How did you come to be one of the church, Benedict?" Julian asked, wanting to start conversation and not able to think of anything else at the moment.
Shortpost. can't think of anything.

Caden didn't know the grace at all like his RPer who only knew to say 'amen' when dining with families, but he too murmured an 'amen' once Benedict was finished with it. Once it was alright for the group of them to eat, Caden eyed the stew a bit curiously, before taking a sip. Hey, this was good!
"...~."
It was, in fact, the best tasting thing that he'd had in awhile. He looked up at Julian asked how Benedict came to the church, and then looked over at the other. He knew enough not to interrupt when adults were speaking.
