Nerys's expression softened when Reuben seemed look like a deer in the headlights, and she walked over to hug him, taking care not to jostle his injuries. The poor thing, he was just a teenager, after all. She then kneeled to look him in the eyes.
"I'll make sure to let them know." She then sighed. "Tell me, what exactly happened?"
Nerys knew that Reuben would never want to come to Dula unless he had a damn good reason to. So it definitely was odd for him to be like this. As extra measure, she took his hand and squeezed it in comfort.

Reuben was just a teenager, but he was happy for the Nerys hug. Outside of the puppy crush that he had had on her when he was five, he had always considered Nerys as an older sister figure. He hugged her back as best as he could.
"Okay. I just don't want to get killed by kindness." Which would happen if the girls didn't know about his allergy and snuck it into his food or drink. And it looked like Nerys wanted to know why he had come to Dula in the first place. Reuben sighed, and focused on the wall on the other side of the room.
"I got a tip that Uncle Isaac was around here somewhere. I never was told if he actually died after getting arrested, so I guess I was... hopeful. And stupid. I guess I should have realized that it was a trap to just get me here." How they knew he knew Isaac was a mystery though.

Nerys listened to him. Right, she knew enough about how nice the girls were, so she would warn them about it. For now? She needed to spend some time with her younger brother figure. Nerys sat on the floor next to him, looking up at him.
"Uncle Isaac?" She paused. No word from him even here. She shook her head. "Anybody could have come. Don't worry about it. You had people looking out for you. Even if Andromeda is no guardian angel." She paused, before standing up.
"We travel around a lot, and Andy can get into the streets of Dula easily. If there's word of Isaac, you'll be the first to know." She paused, and then added quietly. "He was always a mystery, even to me."

And like a good older sister, Nerys was capable of terrifying him and wanting her to hug him at the same time. Even if they weren't related by blood at all, and only on technicalities. She was his father's ex-wife's sister's daughter. What a tangled family tree.
"Yeah," he said, with a bit of a sigh. "I guess I was desperate to have some semblance of normalcy back in my life. Backfired pretty badly on me today. Annoyed as I am at him for forcing me to stay here, at least I know he cares." Even if Andy had only considered him another victim before finding out he was his kid.
"I guess I just want to know what happened to him, and I agree with you on that. He never made that much sense to me, but I know he didn't treat Caden badly at all; the kid's eyes seem so happy when he talks about what they used to do together."

Nerys looked over at Reuben when he spoke about Isaac. Did his parents even talk about him that way too? She had no idea. She shook her head, though. What sense of normalcy? When it comes to Dulans, they didn't have anything like that. She'd take a deep breath.
"He does care. Even if it's in a pretty strange way. Andy's not used to this kind of thing, I can tell." She looked down. Especially since she was the only kid he's ever taken care of.
"... I don't know, Caden trusts everybody. As long as he's safe and with someone you can trust, he should be okay." She murmured.

Yeah, they probably had, from what he remembered. Reuben knew the man had been eccentric - in a good way, not the mad scientist way. He had been pretty funny, though he wasn't sure if Nerys remembered him that well. He smiled up at her, and took her hand.
"It's really strange, and a huge change for me, for him to go from wanting to do that to killing anyone that so much as looks at me the wrong way. It's... different. A good kind of different." A huge change, indeed. Reuben would accept hugs from the girls, and even Cepheid, but he'd still flinch at Andy hugging him.
"That he does..." Yeah, he knew that. Caden was adorable though, and that had likely helped him as people would want to d'aw at him and feed him and cuddle him. "He's still shy, though. I can tell that of who he's met in the last several years, his favorite people are Father Benedict at the church on the east side of town and Julian Shard, Lapis's father."

Nerys started playing with Reuben's hair idly, looking at it. It was really pretty, a different shade of brunette from the Callidum Twins, but still messy and appealing like his. She'd tilt her head. No, she hadn't remembered much of him, despite being the elder one here.
"I don't remember much of him, really. Wherever he is, I hope he's okay, though." She murmured. Of course if she saw Caden, she'd agree that his cuteness is probably why he managed to stay fed on the streets. If cuteness was a weapon...
"Father Benedict? Oh and Lapis's real father? That's actually good. Convenient, but good." She paused. "I don't know about Benedict though." Nope, nobody told her that she had a cousin.

Reuben blinked a bit, looking a little awkward as Nerys began to play with his hair. His hair wasn't the same shade of brown as his biological father and uncle, but it was just as messy and hard to tame. The color, though, was his mother's - the same shade as Caden's hair. Nerys could have been the elder one, but he remembered them the best since they had been family.
"Same, Nerys. Same." Reuben toyed with her sleeve a bit, feeling incredibly bored now that he had finished the food and couldn't get out of the bed.
"Yeah, I found it incredibly convenient that you'd ended up with his daughter - I hadn't had a clue where to start looking for her. As for Benedict... he's my brother through dear pops there."

Well, awkward or not, Nerys was going to spoil you, Reuben. She'd flatted his hair, or try her best doing that before giving up and then just getting herself more comfortable sitting next to Reuben. She'd slowly nod at his agreement on Uncle Isaac. Whatever happened... well, he should be okay.
"Well, it's a good convenience. She was hiding on this ship, away from Dula... So, Andy found more sons of his, huh?" Nerys spoke up. She's not surprised, though.

As long as said spoilage didn't involve him being stuffed in dresses again, Reuben was happy to have Nerys spoil him. It was a rather nice feeling, being spoiled, and it wasn't often that too many people did it. Usually it had been his family and Nerys - and Caden when the boy made him feel like he was the king of the world.
"Incredibly lucky, I'll say," He nodded. So the kid had ended up in Dula somehow and had snuck onboard the ship by chance, eh? That explained why she hadn't been kicked off yet. Not only were the girls probably d'awing over her, but Andy would have empathized with her. "Well, it was more of Andy knowing he existed but not knowing who he was, and me accidentally running into him."
Reuben yawned a bit. Blood loss plus alcohol in his body was not a good combination, but he would stay awake as long as Nerys stayed.

Nerys went quiet as Reuben spoke about Andy, and his son. As well as all the fortunate implications that happened around it. She figured Reuben knew why the girl hadn't been kicked out yet. For now, they'd just hang out here until Andy decides they're ready to head to Truesdale, probably in a couple of days.
"Indeed." She looked down to see Reuben was yawning. "You look tired. Scoot over." Yes, Nerys was going to nap with you and cuddle you. IT WAS PLATONIC, DAMNIT.

Reuben didn't say anything more on the subject; Nerys probably knew the situation better than he did, unless Andy told him more things than he had told her for some reason. What he hadn't told her was that Benedict was her cousin through his mother. That was need-to-know basis that Andy probably would say. Besides, he was tired.
"Huh? Okay." Carefully, he scooted over a bit on the bed, trying not to jostle his leg even further. "Are you going to be staying here?"
He didn't mind at all.

Nerys would get herself comfortable, not needing to be under the sheets plus she's slept there before with Cepheid. She then wrapped her arm carefully around Reuben, cuddling him and making sure not to jostle his injuries as well.
"Yep." She didn't mind a nap. Plus she'll be more awake through the night to patrol and keep an eye on things. She didn't trust Dula...

Reuben squirmed a little as she wrapped her arms around him, but he soon relaxed quickly. Though the main reason he relaxed was that it was Nerys and she wasn't going to molest him in his sleep. It was almost like snuggling against her as a five-year-old again, but those days were long gone.
Still, he hadn't missed the Nerys snuggling. He nuzzled her a bit, and closed his eyes.
"...~."
