"No, we're just smart." Reuben would mention about not wanting to bend over backwards, but he'd heard horror stories and was sure that the comment would be interpreted the wrong way. Honestly, what was wrong with the old, corrupt, rich people? There was a deeper problem than just being corrupt.
"That's what you think, idiot. It will all fall one day." He kept his face blank as the other talked about Sine and his sons. "Besides, none of that is going to work, not on us, and not on them. You'll be pleading for mercy when it all happens."
That comment, though, couldn't help but make him wonder - would they go after Caden? Hell, did they have Isaac and that was the reason why his uncle vanished all those years ago? And then what about Cardinal and the rest of his crew, and dear little Lapis and her father?
The guy finally left, and Ben seemed to just lose all of his firespit after that. Reuben winced at where his head was still throbbing, but placed his arms around his brother.
"...Hey, Ben. We'll get out of this somehow." How many lives had been played with? Andy, Cepheid, Sine, Nerys, Crash, any of the friends that Andy had had there, himself, Benedict, Caden, his parents, Lapis, Julian... and now Lila and Cardinal and the rest of his and Andy's crews will get involved in all of this, too.
---
For the love of Asimov, these people. Cardinal actually facepalmed. He felt like he deserved the brain more than these people did. Or were they just that panicked about a horse being shot? Seriously though... they'd just seen Andy come from the docks, with the horse coming from in town.
"Yeah. I hope to god he's where he said he was going. I'm off, then." Because otherwise, he'd have to hunt around for him.
He slipped through the crowd, a Clockwork on a mission. He knew that Reuben wouldn't be happy, and he was glad that he was great with directions, so he knew the shortest possible path to reach Julian's house... Though walking as quickly as he could, it would still take a little time to get there.

The man decided not to talk back to the kids. After all, they were just kids. They were to be seen and not heard, like good little soldiers. Benedict himself just felt like crawling in a hole and dying. He hid his face and just let out several shudders of horror.
"I hope we do. Maybe father will just appear out of nowhere and shoot the bad guys... kind of like in a story." He paused. "One of those hero things. I mean even if Andy isn't a hero. It'd be cool."
Clearly Benjamin is in for a surprise since Andy does like to do that.
---
Lila herself felt much better. She felt like she could fly! SUPER HORSE COMES TO SAVE THE DAY! Either way, she'd glance back, wondering how Andy knew this lady, but she didn't say anything. The lady was nice and she liked her. She could take care of her and when Andy came back with Ben she would jump on him... and lick him like a dog!
Okay, well I'd squash him if I did that...

Andy finally managed to head to the ship, climbing up and then putting boxes into the ship. Looks liek everything was stocked up and it seems that everybody was either mingling in town, or being lazy. Knowing Nerys, she was probably being lazy, but right now he wouldn't talk to her quite yet. He needed to get his ship ready and get the girls.
"Uuugh, if only I could ditch them. This is my SON we're talking about! And they're conveniently in town!" Andy grumbled. "And I know girls. They always take their time when browsing. That could be anywhere for Christsake!"

Reuben spit after the man as he left, not caring if he was deemed rude. He didn't care if he was rude to these people anyways. Right now, Benedict looked like he was on the verge of a mental breakdown. Well, if his experience with Andy was any indication of what would happen, he'd quietly murmur in the other's ear.
"Funny, he does do that. Appeared out of nowhere when I got shot by the Dulan bounty hunters back in June, and got rid of them. I think those two are regretting it, if they lived."
He rested his head on Ben's shoulder, mentally calculating his chances of actually overpowering the crew.
---
Cardinal finally had reached Julian's house, and had knocked on the door. Hopefully, Reuben would be there.

Julian was sitting in his sofa, reading a book as Lapis sat on the floor in front of him, playing merrily with some blocks. Every few days, she's ask about 'Uncle Grumpy', which was her address for Andy, the man who had looked after her while she was on her way home.
Caden was doing whatever it was Cadens did, and when the knocking came, Lapis would look over at the door with a body language akin to that of a bunny rabbit, curious but ready to sprint. Patting his daughter's hair, Julian got to his feet and walked over to the door, opening it and meeting an unfamiliar Clockwork face.
"Ah, hello." He greeted, curious as to his mechanical visitor. "Do you need something, lad?"

Benedict leaned on his half brother's head as well, and looked up at the ceiling, wondering how long it would take to get to Dula, how Lila was, what was going on, and he deeply hoped that nothing bad happened. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, squeezing them shut.
"Here's to hoping poor Lila did something." He worried for her now. She was hurt, after all. Benedict glanced over at the door leading to the other parts of the ship.
"... This bothers me, why didn't the man tie us up? Is he trying to fake us out, or does he expect us to try and escape? I mean not that we can, we're over open waters..."

Nerys herself had been asleep in her room, napping peacefully through the morning because she never liked it. Light bothered her anyway. For now she could just rest up. Wherever Cepheid was she wasn't worried about him this time.
The sound of Andy frnatically shuffling around roused her from her sleep and she gathered up her and her white gown to peer out of the place with her pretty eyes glancing at Andy as he moved around.
"... Andy?" She spoke up. "What's going on?"

Andromeda finished loading at some point, wondering where Cardinal and Reuben were and he decided to try and adjust the tethers, trying to see if the girls and Cepheid were back. At that point it seemed that Nerys had appeared and he turned around, his expression grim.
"Lila appeared ay the docks, shot in the shoulder. I think Benedict's been taken." He spoke up, quick, tense and worried.
He had to hurry...

Reuben sighed a bit. The horse had been shot, and all he could think about right now was Caden. He glanced over to see if their captors were listening or not, before speaking.
"...He's not going to take this well. First me vanishing for four years, then getting shot, now this." Caden. What would Caden think if he learned about this.
"We can't run. We don't know how many of them there are to think about killing them or taking over the ship, and if we run, there's nowhere to go but open water."
---
Cardinal saw the face of a blond man, a blond little girl that he assumed to be Lapis, and a miniature Reuben that just had to be Caden. He looked over at Julian, sounding a bit worried.
"I'm sorry, but is Captain Reuben here? Something really important came up and we need him back at the ship."
Oh, he really hoped that Reuben was here still and they hadn't just missed each other on the way. The white-and-teal-haired Clockwork would be so upset if that happened.

Caden stared at the Clockwork man that had rang the bell. Wait, he kinda looked familiar, that was Cardi-something, wasn't he? He peered up at him as the other asked him about Reuben and that something important had come up. Caden pouted.
"H-He's n-not h-here! H-He'd p-promised that h-he'd c-come on h-his birthday... b-but he d-didn't come!"

Julian looked worried as he caught the expression of Cardinal's intent. "Did something happen?" Julian asked, Lapis forgetting her blocks and peering around her father.
"Is Uncle Grumpy with him?" The little blonde asked curiously.
"Lapis, go play with Caden and let daddy talk to the man, okay?" Julian asked. Lapis let out a small whine and stepped back, grabbing Caden's hand and trying to lead him back to the blocks.
Julian would turn back to Cardinal. "You don't think he's in trouble, do you?" Julian asked, looking worried. Reuben was a good lad, and he did care about the boy, even if he didn't see a lot of him.

Ceph had been out, selling maps and wooing females for the sake of appearances and habit. It was a good sale day, and The Star Man walked merrily back to his ship, whistling a jaunty tune as he did, climbing into the Super Arrow, which had been docked a ways away from the Star Crash, and changing out his garb.
Packing his profits and his costume all in a large wicker basket, Ceph would feed Clicky and then depart the airship as stealthily as he could, making his way back to the Star Crash.
Excited to tell his brother about his haul that day, Ceph burst into the ship with a grin, though one look at his brother and he realized something was terribly awry.
"What's going on?" Ceph asked simply, putting on an expression of seriousness identical of Andromeda's.

Benedict took a deep breath, looking back at Reuben when he spoke up. Yeah, hopefully poor Caden will be okay, though right now there was the bigger problem of getting unkidnapped. He leaned back and closed his eyes.
"When we land in Dula, let's try and make a break for it. We're fast. We can make it I think." Maybe. If even Andy could barely escape, what hope could they have? ... but Reuben and Ben were Callidums. They had that special something, after all.
"... You ever wonder how Andy was back then? I do sometimes."

Nerys glanced over at Andy when he explained the situation, his expression grim. Wait, so benedict might have been kidnapped? Oh crap this isn't good at all. Nerys' expression went worried, after all this was her nephew.
"... We have to help him. What about Lila?" All girls like horses, of course she'd be worried about her. Plus Benedict loved that horse. When Cepheid came in, she'd run over to give him a hug, that is before she looked up at the two taller men as they would get into conversation.
Shit's about to go down, yo

Andy closed his eyes and tried to focus. Okay, so his son was taken. Definitely Dula's fault. After all why would they take a poor priest? Either way, Nerys looked worried and he gave her a gentle look, trying to hide his anger and fear.
"Lila will be fine. She's with a veterinarian." He then glanced over to see Cepheid, the man's expression tired and painful. At least Cepheid had a good day... now he'd have to explain what was going on.
"... We have to get a move on as soon as Cardinal and Reuben come back. Benedict... I think he might have been kidnapped, and they shot his horse. Things are bad, Cepheid, and I don't even know why they..." Yes, he knows why.
And as much as it hurt to admit, he puts so many people in danger just by existing...
